About Howard
I have been a Baltimore-based commercial photographer for over 20 years, shooting for a variety of clients across the globe. While working commercially I continue to produce fine art, with images housed in many public and private collections.
My style is somewhat minimalist, not overly produced or manipulated. I live to create imagery that is unique, real, and lasting. Whether I’m working to produce images for a client or on a self-produced project my work is an expression of connectedness. I’m a visual storyteller. It’s vital that I connect with people, perceptions, and the world around us.
Commercially, the majority of my work is photographing real people doing real things. My foundation in being connected helps me see subjects as unique in their environment, allowing me to capture their essence within the image. This is as true of portraits of health care workers preparing for the pandemic as it is of college students relaxing on the quad or CEOs celebrating their accomplishments. It’s my responsibility to collaborate and produce images that instill confidence and trust. So the stories we tell reveal the reality of the human experience.
I’m always working to capture the beautiful, the absurd and the mundane. Much of my recent personal work has centered on travels with my wife, two daughters and two large puppies – the stunning mountains in the west, the vast grasslands of a drive across the country, or portraits of my fellow Baltimoreans, the possibilities are endless.
I am truly privileged and grateful to the people I work with and photograph for they have enriched my life immensely
